THE PROCESS

It starts with a vision or an idea — a sketch on a napkin, a photo you saved, a feeling you can't quite describe yet. Bring it all. There are no bad ideas at this stage, only possibilities. The first conversation is free, low pressure, and often where the best work begins. We listen first, ask the right questions, and help you articulate what you actually want before a single measurement is taken.

DREAM IT

Once we understand your vision, we establish a budget, start developing concept sketches, material specifications, and finish options before any material is ordered or touched. You'll see exactly what you're getting — proportions, details, finishes — and have the opportunity to refine it until it's right. No surprises. No guesswork. Just a clear plan.

DESIGN IT

Every piece is fabricated in our Hartland studio. No outsourcing. No shortcuts. No production line. Just deliberate, skilled fabrication from raw material to finished piece — welded, ground, finished, and inspected by the same hands that designed it. When your piece is installed, it will look exactly like the design. It will feel solid. It will be built to outlast the home it lives in.

BUILD IT

"My dad taught me never to say I can't — that limitations are just problems waiting to be solved. That's still how I approach everything I design and build."

— Casey Ketterhagen

About

My name is Casey Ketterhagen. For more than 25 years, I've designed things that matter — products people ride, rely on, and remember.

I was born and raised in southeastern Wisconsin and have lived here my entire life. I grew up using my hands. In 8th grade, my dad and I started building a 1965 Ford Mustang fastback together — and that's where everything began. Not just the metalwork, but the mindset. How to solve problems. How to look at something broken and figure out how to make it work. My dad has been in a wheelchair my whole life, which meant we were always engineering solutions, always finding a way. He taught me never to say I can't. That one lesson has followed me into every shop, every studio, and every project I've ever taken on.

After earning my Industrial Design degree from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design in 1998, I joined Brooks Stevens Design in Grafton, WI — one of America's most storied design firms. From there, I moved to Johnson Outdoors in Racine, leading product design across iconic brands: Minnkota, Humminbird, Old Town Canoe & Kayak, ScubaPro, and Eureka.

Then came Harley-Davidson. I spent 13 years in the Styling Studio designing under the legendary Willie G. Davidson — producing some truly memorable machines: the Softail Slim, the second-generation Fat Boy, the 2019 NHRA World Champion Vance & Hines drag bike, and the first Serial 1 electric bicycles.

Today I lead design at Milwaukee Tool, focused on Outdoor Power Equipment. I've also built a few hot rods and motorcycles along the way — because some habits don't quit.

 After hours, I run six2studio.

I live in Hartland with my wife Beth and our two boys, Carson and Cole. I'm passing down what my dad gave me — Carson and Cole have each built an old Harley-Davidson with me, the same way I once turned wrenches on that Mustang. The shop is where we figure things out together. That's always been the point.
